Firefighter Paul Cahill, 55, and Warren Payne, 53, are killed in the line of duty.

Cahill and Payne are killed, fighting a fire at 1727 Centre Street. Ten people are injured in the fire at the Tai Ho restaurant , which spread quickly due to the buildup of grease in exhaust fans in the restaurant and caused the roof of the building to collapse.
